President Clinton endorses Jerry Brown for California Governor - UCLA (October 15, 2010)
He urged college students to vote in the midterm election:
"I am pleading with you, you need to go out and tell everyone who is not here tonight that any college student in the state of California that doesn't vote in this election is committing malpractice on your own future."
"I've lived my life and I've lived my dreams and I grew up in an America with a strong and swelling middle class, and a very poor person in this country thought their kids could get out of poverty through an education, through a job and through the future," Clinton said. "Everyone who's running for something has achieved something in life. The question is, who's more likely to give the same chance to everyone else?"
Praise for Jerry Brown:
"He was the first governor in America to have green building standards, green appliance standards," Clinton said. "He knew it was good economics when most people thought it was a fool's errand."
"Simply put, Jerry Brown has the independent thinking, knowledge, and experience to get California working again."
