Born in Tehran, Iran, Simin Behbahani has been one of the most popular Iranian poet amongst her people. A renowned author, she has written extensively about current important issues in her homeland.

For the last few years scholars, literary critics and authors have made Simin Behbahani the candidate of their choice for The Nobel Literature Prize. She recently was invited by Stanford University to attend a conference organized by the Hoover Institute. Her paper in this conference received high praise in the literary circles and by Iran's political observers. She was also invited by The International Society of Iranian Studies (ISIS) in Bethesda Maryland, and Columbia University for two other talks. Behbahani has been the guest of Iranian cultural societies nationwide and is scheduled to appear at UC in Berkeley and UCLA before returning to Iran.
